Wigan Warriors Receive Timely Boost as Star Player Bevan French Set to Return from Injury

Wigan, August 31st – Wigan Warriors have received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming match against the Catalans Dragons, as head coach Matt Peet has confirmed that star player Bevan French will make his return from injury this weekend.

French, a key member of the Warriors’ squad, last featured for Peet’s side in their victory over the Leigh Leopards on July 5th. However, the playmaker suffered a hamstring tear during training the following week, leading up to a crucial clash against their bitter rivals, St Helens. An eight-week timeframe was initially set for French’s return to the field.

Despite missing eight games, the Warriors have managed to win five of those contests, maintaining their position near the top of the Super League table. Now, the 28-year-old has been included in Peet’s 21-man squad for the trip to Perpignan, where the Cherry and Whites will take on the joint-league leaders, the Catalans Dragons, on Saturday evening.

Peet expressed his delight at French’s impending return, stating, “> First of all, he’ll play. He’s been excellent, and when I say from day one, I mean almost from the hour after he got the injury in the run up to that St Helens game. We had a really positive conversation and spoke about how he could look after himself during this period so he could hit the ground running at the back end of the year.”

The Warriors coach acknowledged that French may not play the full 80 minutes as he eases his way back into match fitness, but remained coy on the specifics of his plans for the star player on Saturday.

With four crucial games remaining in the regular season, the Warriors are currently two competition points ahead of third-placed Warrington Wolves, though they have an inferior points difference. Peet’s side will be hoping that French’s return can provide the necessary boost to secure a top-two finish and potentially lift the League Leaders’ Shield for the second consecutive year.

As the rugby league season reaches its climax, the Wigan Warriors’ supporters will be eagerly anticipating Bevan French’s return to the field, with the hope that his presence can propel the team towards their ultimate goal of silverware.
