Rugby League Players Facing Suspensions After Disciplinary Incidents

In the latest round of Super League action, several players have been handed suspensions by the Match Review Panel for various disciplinary issues.

Hull FC duo Ligi Sao and Jack Brown are among those facing bans. Sao will miss his team’s upcoming clash against St Helens after receiving his second suspension of the season, having been charged with a Grade B Dangerous Contact offence during their defeat to Huddersfield Giants. Similarly, Brown will serve his second ban of 2024 for a Grade B Dangerous Throw in the same game, meaning Hull FC have already accumulated 14 games worth of suspensions through just seven rounds of the new campaign – the worst disciplinary record in the Super League.

Player Suspensions

“Two more players have also been banned following the weekend’s fixtures. Hull KR prop Sam Luckley will miss the Challenge Cup quarter-final against Leigh Leopards after being charged with a Grade C Dangerous Throw offence. Salford hooker Amir Bourouh is also set to sit out the Red Devils’ trip to London Broncos next week, having been charged with a Grade B Dangerous Throw during their loss to Castleford Tigers.”

While these players face suspensions, several others, including Wigan’s Abbas Miski, Hull’s Liam Sutcliffe, Warrington’s Ben Currie, and Castleford’s Elie El-Zakhem, were fined £250 for incidents in their respective matches but escaped bans.

The early season disciplinary issues continue to be a concern for some Super League clubs, particularly Hull FC, who have struggled with their on-field discipline so far in 2024.
