Leeds Rhinos Suffer Heartbreaking Loss Against Huddersfield Giants
In a devastating weekend for the Leeds Rhinos, they suffered a morale-sapping defeat at the hands of the Huddersfield Giants. The Rhinos had built up a commanding 12-point lead, but ultimately succumbed to a 30-24 loss at AMT Headingley.
The injury woes continued to plague the Rhinos, as they lost two key players in the second half. Both David Fusitu’a and Harry Newman were visibly limping, as Huddersfield took advantage and scored through Harvey Livett.

“Fus has got a medial knee ligament injury which is going to be an eight to ten-week recovery, so that is really disappointing. We’ll help him through this part and he’ll hopefully be back to finish the season at the back end of the year,” said Rohan Smith, the Leeds Rhinos head coach, to BBC Radio Leeds.
With Fusitu’a’s contract expiring at the end of the season, the Rhinos must now decide whether to wait for his return or look to bring in a replacement to cover his spot in the short term. Three potential options include experienced Super League winger Fouad Yaha, versatile Scotland international Matty Russell, and former Rhinos trialist Lee Kershaw.
