Premiership Rugby’s Best XV of the 2023/24 Season Unveiled
As the curtain falls on another thrilling Premiership Rugby campaign, the official Team of the Season has been announced, showcasing the league’s standout performers. The prestigious XV features representatives from seven different clubs, underscoring the depth and competitiveness of the English top flight.
Despite their impressive run to the semi-finals, the Sale Sharks and Newcastle Falcons fail to have any players included in the final selection, while Gloucester are also absent. In contrast, table-toppers Northampton Saints lead the way with five of their stars making the cut, highlighting the exceptional season they have enjoyed.
Harlequins, who fell short of the playoffs, have two players in the team, including the talented fullback Tyrone Green, who also claimed the Try of the Season award. Bristol Bears, too, are represented, with Benhard Janse van Rensburg earning his spot after a stellar debut season following his move from London Irish.
Exeter Chiefs, the Premiership’s dominant force, contribute three players, including the Breakthrough Player of the Season Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and the prestigious Premiership Player of the Season. Saracens, the defending champions, have just a single representative, while Bath and Sale are not featured at all.
“The great thing about this XV is the combination of the grizzled international pros like Lawes and Slade with the breakout stars such as Baxter and Feyi-Waboso,” said BBC Rugby Union Correspondent and judging panel member Chris Jones. “Then you have players like Ben Spencer continuing to remind everyone of his enduring class, while Curtis Langdon at hooker has been a revelation this campaign for the Saints.”
