Amidst the recent financial collapse of London Irish, the futures of their former players have been a topic of intense discussion. Former London Irish Winger Poised to Join DHL Stormers

Despite speculation that Ben Loader might join a Premiership rugby side, the 24-year-old seems poised to agree to a deal with the South African DHL Stormers. According to reports from Bristol Live and the Daily Telegraph, Loader was previously in talks with two Gallagher Premiership clubs, but has now opted to sign with the Stormers after impressing the Cape Town side in the latest Champions Cup.

The Stormers’ victories over Irish in the 2022/23 Champions Cup, with a 14-28 away win and a 34-14 home triumph, appear to have played a significant role in Loader’s decision.

While he was reportedly in discussions to sign with Saracens or Bristol Bears, the South African club’s late bid has seen those moves fail to materialize.

Reports suggest that Loader will pen a two-year deal with the Stormers, a move that will see the winger switch to the United Rugby Championship (URC) for the foreseeable future. The Stormers finished third in the 2022/23 URC season and progressed all the way to the final, where they were ultimately defeated by a resilient Munster side.
