Rugby League Revamp: Hull FC Duo Depart on Short-Term Loans
In a flurry of loan activity, Hull FC has confirmed that two of their NRL recruits, Franklin Pele and Davy Litten, have joined the York Knights on short-term deals. This move comes just a week after Bradford Bulls secured the services of Jayden Okunbor, another Hull FC player, on a loan agreement.
Pele, who has made eight appearances for Hull FC in the 2024 campaign, and Litten, who has played twice this season, will now have the opportunity to gain valuable playing time with the Betfred Championship side. The loan deals are set to take immediate effect, allowing the duo to feature in York Knights’ upcoming league fixture against Halifax Panthers.
The decision to send these players out on loan reflects the ongoing challenges faced by Hull FC’s overseas recruitment strategy. While the club made a significant investment in three NRL forwards ahead of the season, only one, Herman Ese’ese, has managed to make a substantial impact so far.
“Pele’s biggest contribution to Hull FC has been a controversial red card for a swinging arm in the derby, while Okunbor is yet to feature under interim head coach Simon Grix. The pair have primarily been relegated to the reserves, with Okunbor becoming a regular at that level and Pele earning a handful of appearances, including a 20-minute stint in the Super League against Warrington Wolves.”
As for Davy Litten, the young back has been sidelined with a head injury for much of the season, making the loan move to the Knights a perfect opportunity to regain match fitness and playing time.
