Rugby League Enthusiasts Eagerly Await Will Pryce’s NRL Debut

Rugby league enthusiasts eagerly await the long-awaited NRL debut of former Huddersfield Giants player Will Pryce, son of the legendary Leon Pryce. The 21-year-old Englishman is set to finally grace the NRL stage for the Newcastle Knights after months of being kept out of the side.

Leon Pryce, a renowned England and Great Britain star, was a pivotal member of the legendary Bradford Bulls and St Helens teams, amassing an impressive tally of 19 major trophies, including four Super League titles and six Challenge Cup victories.

Will Pryce burst onto the scene with Huddersfield in 2021 and has since represented the England Knights. Despite playing 17 games for the Giants in the 2023 Super League season, he is yet to make his NRL Premiership debut, instead featuring in the reserve-grade NSW Cup, where he has scored six tries and become the side’s kicker of choice.

Recently, legendary NRL fullback Andrew Johns called on Knights head coach Adam O’Brien to hand Pryce a debut, citing poor performances from Jack Cogger and former Wigan and Salford player Jackson Hastings. However, O’Brien initially refrained from making any “knee-jerk reactions,” stating that Pryce was still learning the game in the NRL.

“The tides have now turned, as The Mole reports that the English recruit will make his NRL debut against the Parramatta Eels this weekend. Pryce is set to partner Hastings in the halves, with another Englishman, Kai Pearce-Paul, named on the bench after missing out last time.”

The Knights’ decision to finally unleash Will Pryce on the NRL stage comes after three consecutive losses, the most recent against the formidable Penrith Panthers. Fans of rugby league and the Newcastle Knights will be eager to witness the young Englishman’s highly anticipated debut, as he aims to make his mark in the prestigious NRL competition.
