Standout Performances Highlight Super League Round 8 Team of the Week
Rugby league enthusiasts were treated to a wealth of exceptional individual displays in Super League’s Round 8, making the selection of the weekly Team of the Week a challenging task. While several players narrowly missed out, the final 13-man lineup features talent from no fewer than six different clubs.
Wigan Warriors’ Bevan French was a standout at full-back in their 36-14 victory over Castleford, scoring the opening try and recording two assists as he made the second-most metres on the field. Teammate Junior Nsemba, earning Sky Sports’ Man of the Match award for the second consecutive game, was equally impressive, driving the Warriors forward with 148 metres from 23 carries.
Huddersfield Giants duo Adam Swift and Esan Marsters continued their strong campaigns, with Swift scoring a try to take his tally to 14 in 10 appearances, while Marsters was named Sky’s Man of the Match after amassing an impressive 215 metres.
Salford Red Devils’ Nene Macdonald and Deon Cross both made significant contributions, with Macdonald’s 161 metres and 11 tackles catching the eye in their 12-4 win over London, while Cross powered for 252 metres, including a try-scoring effort.
In the halves, Catalans Dragons’ Theo Fages orchestrated his side’s 36-6 triumph over Hull KR, scoring a try and making 30 tackles, while Huddersfield’s Adam Clune set up a try and sealed the win with a late solo effort against Leeds.
Up front, Warrington Wolves’ James Harrison and Lachlan Fitzgibbon stood tall, with the latter scoring a try and assisting another in the Wolves’ 16-14 victory over Leigh. St Helens’ Morgan Knowles, making 24 tackles, rounded out the lineup.
