Utility Back George Wacokecoke Secures New Club After Newcastle Falcons Release
NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND – Experienced utility back George Wacokecoke has found a new home after parting ways with the Newcastle Falcons, as Doncaster Knights prepare to announce his signing.
The 28-year-old, who has been with the Falcons since 2018, has agreed to join the Yorkshire-based club, with the deal set to be officially unveiled once Newcastle’s difficult season concludes against Gloucester this Saturday.
Doncaster Knights Bolster Squad for Premiership Promotion Push
Doncaster Knights, under the leadership of Joe Ford (son of England fly-half George), are making a concerted push for Premiership promotion next season. To bolster their squad, the club has already announced several new signings, including the return of former Jersey Reds and Leicester back-row Thom Smith, as well as the additions of Nottingham’s Morgan Bunting and Jordon Olowofela, and Bristol’s Fred Davies and Scarlets’ Joe Jones.
Wacokecoke, who has made only five appearances across the Premiership and European competitions this term, was playing under the three-year contract he signed in 2021 while Dean Richards was at the helm of the Falcons. With his current deal set to expire, the utility back has now secured a new opportunity with Doncaster Knights as he looks to revitalize his career.
“We are delighted to welcome George to Doncaster Knights,” said a club spokesperson. “His versatility and experience will be a valuable addition to our squad as we aim for promotion next season.”
