Rugby League Clubs Alerted to Availability of Hull KR Forward George King

According to Love Rugby League, several Super League sides have been put on notice after the services of Hull KR forward George King were reportedly offered to a number of top-flight clubs.

King, who is under contract with Rovers until the end of the 2027 season after signing a long-term extension last July, has seen his future at the club unexpectedly come into question. Love Rugby League has learned that King’s management has alerted several Super League teams to his potential availability, though an outright departure is far from guaranteed.

The Ireland international has been a key figure for the Robins in recent years, particularly since the arrival of head coach Willie Peters.

King featured prominently in Hull KR’s opening five Super League matches of 2024 before a hamstring injury sidelined him for several weeks, but he has since returned to the lineup. Since joining Rovers late in the 2020 campaign from Wakefield Trinity, the versatile forward has amassed close to 100 appearances for the club. Last year, he was a regular contributor as the Robins reached the Super League play-offs and Challenge Cup final, and he has continued to be a mainstay when fit this season.

However, with Hull KR already confirming the signing of Jared Waerea-Hargreaves from the NRL’s Sydney Roosters for 2025, as well as securing frontline forwards Sauaso Sue and Sam Luckley for next year, the potential departure of King could represent a significant piece of business for any Super League club interested in acquiring his services.

The situation surrounding King’s future will be closely monitored by rugby league enthusiasts, as the 13-time Ireland international’s availability could prompt a flurry of activity in the player market.
