Salford Red Devils Assistant Coach Krisnan Inu Reflects on Tough Losses and Looks Ahead to Huddersfield Giants Clash
Salford Red Devils assistant coach Krisnan Inu met with the media on Friday morning, providing insights into the team’s recent performances and challenges ahead of their Super League encounter with Huddersfield Giants.
Addressing the aftermath of the 26-0 defeat against Leigh Leopards at Magic Weekend, Inu acknowledged the team’s disappointment but praised their character. > “I thought we showed great character after going down two men, but things just didn’t go our way, and we shot ourselves in the foot in a few moments.”
The coach also expressed frustration over the inconsistency in officiating, particularly regarding the new ruck rules implemented at the start of the season. > “It’s funny that some things we worked hard on have fallen out the window; it’s like a whole new game again,” Inu said, emphasizing the need for greater consistency across the league.
Heading into the Huddersfield clash, Salford will be without key players Tim Lafai and Ollie Partington due to suspension, as well as Sam Stone, who is sidelined due to concussion protocols. Despite the absences, Inu remains confident in the squad’s ability to step up. > “We’re not blessed with the biggest team, but we’ve got a right squad. They help each other out and fill in those holes, everyone plays their part.”
On the recruitment front, Inu revealed that the Red Devils are actively seeking to bolster their squad for the 2025 season. > “We’re always looking for numbers. We probably have the smallest squad in the competition, and we’re always looking to add. There’s a few people in the mix.”
As Salford Red Devils prepare to face Huddersfield Giants, the team will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeats and demonstrate their resilience on the field, despite the challenges they face with key players unavailable.
