Wigan Warriors Prodigy Jack Farrimond Shines in Convincing Victory over London Broncos
Wigan, UK – Friday night’s rugby league clash saw rising star Jack Farrimond deliver a standout performance, leading Wigan Warriors to a dominant 36-0 win over London Broncos.
The 18-year-old, who is still eligible to play for the academy side, made his mark on his home debut at the newly named Brick Community Stadium. Farrimond, who hails from Leigh, scored two tries, provided an assist, and successfully converted six out of six goal attempts, showcasing a maturity beyond his years.
Farrimond’s all-round display was instrumental in the Warriors’ commanding victory. He made 117 metres from 11 carries, including two clean breaks and seven tackle busts, while also contributing 16 tackles in defence, including a crucial try-saving effort in the closing stages.
“He’s certainly put his best foot forward,” Peet said of Farrimond’s display. “As far as taking his opportunity tonight, he’s done that.”
Wigan coach Matt Peet was full of praise for the young scrum-half, who has recently been selected for the England Academy squad to face France on July 2. Peet highlighted Farrimond’s dedication, the support he receives from his family, and the valuable mentorship provided by Wigan’s transition coach, John Duffy.
With Wigan’s star fullback Jai Field sidelined for the next six to eight weeks due to a hamstring injury, Farrimond’s impressive performance has given Peet a healthy selection headache. The coach now has several options to choose from in the spine, with Bevan French, Harry Smith, Ryan Hampshire, and the in-form Farrimond all vying for a spot.
The Warriors’ convincing victory over the Broncos, led by the standout performance of their young prodigy, will undoubtedly excite Wigan’s rugby league enthusiasts as they look forward to the team’s next fixture in the rugby league season.
