Aidan Morgan Joins Ulster on Two-Year Deal
(Photo by Hagen Hopkins/Getty Images) Ahead of the upcoming season, Irish-qualified fly-half Aidan Morgan will join Ulster from the Hurricanes on a two-year deal. The move, which was initially reported in the Fissler Confidential transfer column a fortnight ago, has now been officially confirmed by the province.
The 22-year-old playmaker is Ulster’s second signing of the close season, following the arrival of Werner Kok from the Sharks. Morgan’s addition will help offset the loss of Billy Burns to Munster. With his grandfather born in Belfast, Morgan is eligible for Ireland and has featured in 23 Super Rugby games for the Hurricanes, though he has only played three times this year – against the Rebels, Fijian Drua, and Moana Pasifika, the latter match seeing him suffer a horrific facial injury.
An 89% kicker this season, having only missed two of his 18 shots at goal, Morgan expressed his delight at the opportunity to join Ulster and be part of a new era under head coach Richie Murphy.
“I’m really looking forward to making the move to Belfast this summer, and getting the opportunity to represent Ulster and the birthplace of my grandfather,” he said. “I know that Ulster is steeped in history, and I’m looking forward to being a part of the atmosphere at Kingspan Stadium. I’m really excited for the opportunity to be a part of a talented team, and to play in front of the club’s passionate supporters.”
