Leigh Leopards Roar to Third Win of the Season, Crush Salford Red Devils 40-12
Leigh Sports Village, April 28, 2024 – The Leigh Leopards continued their impressive start to the 2024 Super League season, claiming their third victory with a dominant 40-12 win over the Salford Red Devils on home turf.
Australian fullback Matt Moylan was in fine form, dealing expertly with Salford’s kicking game and contributing two from four with the boot. Umyla Hanley also shone, scoring two well-taken tries to add to his growing reputation.
Veteran Zak Hardaker put in a solid shift, while centre partner Ricky Leutele was a rock in defense. The unstoppable Josh Charnley hit a career milestone, crossing for a brace to bring up 300 career tries – an incredible feat.
Orchestrating the Leopards’ attack was the talismanic Lachlan Lam, who shared man-of-the-match honors with Charnley. The Papua New Guinean playmaker produced a masterclass, providing assists galore and scoring a deserved try of his own.
“With their key players firing on all cylinders, Leigh will be confident of sustaining their push for the playoffs in the weeks to come.”
While the headline-grabbers caught the eye, Leigh’s forwards laid the platform, with the likes of Tom Amone, Robbie Mulhern and Kai O’Donnell putting in powerful shifts. Impact sub Brad Dwyer was also electric, capping his performance with a well-taken try.
The victory maintains the Leopards’ strong start to the new Super League campaign and will have the rest of the competition sitting up and taking notice.
