Hong Kong China Triumph in Asia Rugby Men’s Championship 2024 Opener
In the ongoing quest for continental bragging rights in Asia, a new generation of sevens stars will get their chance to shine in London this week.
Hong Kong China got their Asia Rugby Men’s Championship 2024 campaign off to a strong start, defeating the United Arab Emirates 52-5 at home. Despite conceding the first try, the Dragons roared back with a dominant performance, securing their sixth consecutive Test victory. Tommy Hill led the way with 22 points, while Harry Laidler, John McCormick-Houston, Paul Altier, Alex Post, and Charles Higson-Smith all crossed the whitewash.
Hong Kong China’s victory means they remain unbeaten in the tournament since a 16-0 loss against Japan in May 2017. However, they currently sit second in the 2024 standings on points difference, as Korea also opened the tournament with an impressive 55-5 win over Malaysia.
