Harlequins Bid Farewell to 11 Players as Rugby Union Season Concludes
As the Gallagher Premiership season nears its end, Harlequins have officially announced the departure of 11 players from their squad. The London club, who are currently sixth in the league standings, will use their final home match against Bristol on Saturday to bid farewell to the exiting players in front of their loyal fans.
The list of departing Harlequins includes some high-profile names, such as centre Andre Esterhuizen, who has signed with the Sharks, as well as Lovejoy Chawatama (Bristol), Will Collier (France), and Louis Lynagh (Italy). Other players set to leave the Twickenham Stoop at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season are Makeen Alikhan, Theo Currie, Will Edwards, Santiago Garcia Botta, Max Green, Jonny Smith, and Luke Wallace.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with these players, and I have no doubt they will succeed in their next chapter, whether that is in rugby or in their transition into a new career,” Millard said.
Harlequins’ Director of Rugby, Billy Millard, expressed his gratitude for the departing players’ contributions and dedication to the club. The Quins faithful will have the opportunity to thank the players for their service and bid them a fitting farewell during the final-round home match against Bristol.
“I know the Quins faithful will provide them with a fitting farewell and thank them for their excellent service and dedication to our club,” Millard added.
As Harlequins look to secure a play-off spot in the Gallagher Premiership, the focus will also be on providing a memorable sendoff for the 11 players who have contributed to the club’s success over the years.
