Passionate Rugby League Enthusiasts Eagerly Await England Academy’s Clash with France
Warrington, England (2 July 2023) – The Rugby Football League’s (RFL) Head of England Pathways, Paul Anderson, has announced a 21-player squad for the upcoming match against France at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium on Tuesday, July 2nd (7:30 pm kickoff).
This squad, comprising some of the nation’s most promising emerging talent, includes several players with valuable Super League experience. Among them are Hull FC’s Jack Charles, Wigan Warriors’ Jack Farrimond, and Warrington Wolves’ duo Cai Taylor-Wray and Arron Lindop – the latter of whom scored tries for Warrington against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan and at home against Wigan Warriors in a narrow 18-19 defeat.
“They wouldn’t be where they are without the likes of Beverley Braves and Halton Hornets.”

Notably, 20 of the 21 players are affiliated with Super League clubs, with the sole exception being Wakefield Trinity’s promising hooker, Harvey Smith, who made his first-team debut in Trinity’s final Super League match of the 2023 season.
Expressing his excitement about the squad’s potential, Paul Anderson, the Head of England Pathways, stated, “I’ve been following the progress of players in the Academy, Reserves and Super League competitions from the start of the season, and I’m really excited about what this squad can achieve.”
In preparation for the international clash, the squad will gather at Leeds Beckett University, where they will be exposed to the kind of environment they may one day experience at the senior international level, as part of the pathways program.
The England Academy vs. France match will take place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington on Tuesday, July 2nd, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 pm. Admission is £5 (£2 concessions), and the match will also be streamed live on the RFL’s YouTube channel, starting at 7:15 pm.
