Castleford Tigers Secure Extended Deals for Young Stars Hill and Qareqare
Castleford, UK – In a significant boost for the club’s future, Castleford Tigers have announced the contract extensions of promising young talents George Hill and Jason Qareqare.
Hill, a 19-year-old forward, has signed a new three-year deal with the Tigers, including an option for a fourth year at the club’s discretion. Director of Rugby Danny Wilson praised Hill’s performances, especially against the reigning champions, stating, “> Everything that we talk about is developing our own young kids and our own talent and retaining them, and I think George has shown the fans and the coaches what he’s about.”
The club’s focus on youth development has been further underlined by Qareqare’s two-year contract extension. The 20-year-old Fijian winger has become a fan favorite at Wheldon Road, with Wilson highlighting his exciting and try-scoring abilities. “> Jason is an exciting player. Fans love him and he loves them. He can score tries and he’s quick and exciting, so I’m pleased we’ve got him with us,” the director said.
The news comes shortly after Castleford Tigers’ investor, Martin Jepson, reassured supporters about the club’s Super League status in 2025. Jepson has identified youth development as a key priority, with ten academy players recently retained and the signings of Tex Hoy, Corey Hall, and the Senior brothers further strengthening the backline.
Castleford Tigers’ commitment to nurturing their own talent is evident in these contract extensions. Fans will be eager to see Hill and Qareqare continue their progression and contribute to the club’s success in the coming seasons.
