Leeds Rhinos have announced the mutual termination of France international Mickael Goudemand’s contract, granting the 28-year-old forward an early release from the final year of his two-year deal.

Goudemand, who joined the Rhinos from Catalans Dragons ahead of the 2024 season, made 18 appearances in blue and amber, scoring one try. However, he only featured once in the final 10 games of the campaign.

Rhinos sporting director Ian Blease expressed his well-wishes for the player, stating:

“On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to wish Mickael all the best for the future. He has returned to France in recent weeks ahead of the birth of his first child with his partner Louisa, and they leave with our best wishes and thanks.”

The versatile forward began his rugby league career with hometown club Avignon in the French Elite Championship, spending seven seasons with the Bisons. Goudemand then made the move to England, joining Dewsbury Rams in 2017 before signing a full-time professional contract with Catalans Dragons in 2018.

During his six-year stint with the Dragons, Goudemand made 99 appearances and helped the club lift the Challenge Cup at Wembley in 2018. He was also a member of the France national team, earning 12 caps, including in the most recent Rugby League World Cup in 2022.

The mutual termination of Goudemand’s contract with the Leeds Rhinos will allow the player to pursue “other playing opportunities” for the 2025 season and beyond, as stated by the club.
