Glasgow Warriors Secure Semi-Final Spot with Stormers Victory
In a captivating United Rugby Championship quarter-final clash at Scotstoun, the Glasgow Warriors booked their place in the semi-finals with a 27-10 win over the DHL Stormers.
The Scottish side put in a composed performance, with tries from Sebastian Cancelliere, Henco Venter, and Ross Thompson proving the difference on the day. The Warriors’ victory was further aided by the inaccurate kicking of Stormers fly-half Manie Libbok, who missed all four of his attempts from the tee.
The match started cautiously, with both teams trading possession and territory. However, the second half exploded into life, with the two sides exchanging three tries in just seven minutes.
“Despite going a man down when Salmaan Moerat was shown a yellow card, the Stormers managed to score through Ben Loader. But the Warriors responded immediately, with Cancelliere crossing the line after a mazy run from Sione Tuipulotu.”
The visitors kept themselves in the contest when Paul de Wet dotted down, but Venter’s try and a late score from Thompson sealed the victory for the home side.
Glasgow’s reward is a semi-final clash against Munster in Limerick next weekend, as they aim to secure their first piece of silverware since 2015.
