Wakefield Trinity coach Daryl Powell selects his all-star rugby league team
Experienced rugby league coach Daryl Powell has revealed his ultimate 1-13 team, featuring some of the greatest players he has played with or coached during his illustrious career.
Powell, who has enjoyed successful spells with the likes of Sheffield Eagles, Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, and Castleford Tigers, has assembled a star-studded lineup of legendary figures from the sport.
The former Great Britain international started with iconic Balmain fullback Garry Jack, who left a lasting impression on Powell with his toughness and skill. Joining him in the backline are the lightning-fast Martin Offiah and the influential Paul Newlove, while Keith Senior, Powell’s former teammate at Sheffield Eagles, gets the nod at centre.
On the wing, Paul Eastwood earns a surprise selection, with Powell praising the Great Britain international’s try-scoring prowess. In the halves, the experienced Garry Schofield is paired with the diminutive but brilliant Rob Burrow, who Powell coached at Leeds Rhinos.
The forward pack is headlined by the rugged prop duo of Karl Harrison and Grant Millington, with the latter’s versatility earning him a spot. Hooker Paul McShane, who starred under Powell at Castleford, is also included, while the back-row is anchored by the legendary trio of Andy Farrell, Adrian Morley, and Ellery Hanley.
Overall, Powell’s selection reflects his vast experience in the sport and the exceptional talents he has witnessed over the years, making this an ultimate rugby league dream team.
