Veteran Rugby League Standout Daniel Vidot Returns to the Sport, Joins USA National Team

In a surprising turn of events, former Brisbane Broncos and Salford Red Devils winger Daniel Vidot has made a comeback to the rugby league scene. The 34-year-old has been called up to the USA national team, marking his first-ever appearance for the Tomahawks.

Vidot’s rugby league career took an unexpected detour in 2016 when he had a brief stint with the Salford Red Devils in the Super League, making 10 appearances for the club before returning to the NRL to join the Gold Coast Titans. However, he later stepped away from the sport altogether to pursue a career as a professional wrestler, eventually signing with WWE in 2018 under the ring name Xyon Quinn.

Vidot’s Return to Rugby League

Now, Vidot has shifted his focus back to rugby league and will represent the USA in their upcoming tour of South Africa. Earlier this summer, he featured for the DC Cavalry in the USARL, and his impressive performances have earned him a spot on the Tomahawks’ touring party.

Vidot’s international experience is not limited to the USA, as he has previously made 10 appearances for the Samoa national team, including being part of their squad during the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

USA National Team Roster

The USA squad, which is entirely based in the States, boasts several notable names, including Ryan Burroughs, who had a stint in the English game with Toronto Wolfpack and Barrow Raiders in 2017 and 2018. Another former Toronto player, Joe Eichner, has also been included in the squad.

As rugby league enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming fixtures, the inclusion of seasoned veteran Daniel Vidot in the USA national team promises to add an exciting dimension to the Tomahawks’ performance. With his wealth of experience and natural talent, Vidot’s return to the sport could prove to be a significant boost for the USA’s rugby league aspirations.
