Toulouse Unveils Unchanged Starting XV for Champions Cup Final
Toulouse, the finalists of the Investec Champions Cup, have named an unchanged starting lineup from their semi-final victory over Harlequins earlier this month. However, the French club has made a solitary alteration to their bench, with the inclusion of Joshua Brennan in place of Mathis Castro-Ferreira.
Toulouse’s 38-26 win over their Gallagher Premiership opposition on May 5 has earned them a spot in the championship final against Leinster. With replacement Santiago Chocobares cleared to take his place on the bench following the expiry of his interim suspension, the only change to Toulouse’s match-day 23 is the introduction of Brennan.
Brennan’s name may be familiar to Leinster’s Irish side, as the 22-year-old is the son of Trevor Brennan, the former Ireland back-rower who joined Toulouse from Leinster in the early 2000s, going on to win European and Top 14 titles with the French club. Joshua Brennan has made 16 Top 14 appearances this season, starting at either lock or openside on 11 occasions, and he is set for his fifth Champions Cup appearance of the campaign.
In contrast, Leinster have made three changes to their starting XV, including the selection of Jason Jenkins at second row ahead of James Ryan. The Irish side has also shuffled their replacements, opting for a six-two forwards-backs split on their bench, unlike Toulouse’s five-three arrangement.
“The stage is set for a captivating Champions Cup final showdown between the two European giants, with both teams determined to claim the prestigious trophy.”
