Rugby League Results: Four Super League Players Handed Bans After Latest Round of Action
In the aftermath of the recent Super League fixtures, four players have been issued suspensions following disciplinary proceedings. Among them is Leeds Rhinos captain Cameron Smith, who has been given a one-match ban.
Smith’s ban comes as a result of a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge stemming from an incident during the Rhinos’ defeat to Salford Red Devils on Saturday. The match review panel deemed the incident to be at the higher end of the grading scale, meaning Smith will miss this weekend’s clash against Wigan Warriors.
Salford’s Tim Lafai has also been suspended for one match, receiving a Grade C Head Contact charge that saw him sin-binned early in the Red Devils’ victory over Brad Arthur’s side.
Compounding a difficult weekend for Hull FC, two of their players have been handed bans. Key forward Jordan Lane is set to miss his first match of the season after receiving a Grade B Head Contact charge during their heavy defeat to St Helens. Additionally, teammate Brad Fash has been given a one-match suspension following an incident that resulted in the same grading and charge as Lane.
“All four players have until 12pm on Tuesday to decide whether to appeal their respective suspensions.”
The full disciplinary round-up for Round 20 of the Super League is as follows:
