Rugby Union News: New Guidelines Issued for Match Official Abuse Cases
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) Head of Judiciary has introduced revised guidelines pertaining to Match Official Abuse cases, effective January 1, 2024. This development supersedes the previous Cornwall Rugby Football Union (CRFU) policy of adding a one-week aggravation to proven cases.
The RFU has now implemented a nationwide aggravation policy, which the CRFU Disciplinary will be enforcing immediately. Notably, these heightened sanctions for match official abuse are considerably more severe compared to the previous guidelines.
It is crucial to note that these new regulations do not extend to Age Grade rugby. Consequently, the CRFU’s one-week aggravation for cases of Match Official Abuse will continue to be applied in any Age Grade cases.
Rugby enthusiasts are advised to familiarize themselves with the updated guidance, which can be accessed through the provided link.
Discipline Secretary Bill Hooper emphasizes the importance of understanding and adhering to these new regulations within the rugby union gameplay and news landscape.
