Rugby Union News: Springboks Lose Key Lock RG Snyman Ahead of Australia Clash
South Africa’s Rassie Erasmus has made a late change to his match-day lineup for the Rugby Championship clash against Australia in Brisbane. Powerhouse lock RG Snyman has been ruled out due to a foot niggle, and he has been replaced in the starting XV by Ben-Jason Dixon.
“The Springboks are aiming to end their winless streak at Suncorp Stadium, where they last tasted victory in 2013. However, they will have to do so without the services of their towering second-rower Snyman.”
Dixon’s inclusion in the starting lineup has caused a shuffle in the South African pack. He will now start at number 7, with Pieter-Steph du Toit moving to the second row to partner Eben Etzebeth. Salmaan Moerat has been added to the matchday 23, filling the number 19 jersey.
Erasmus had earlier suggested that Ruan Nortje could come into the team if Snyman was ruled out, but the coach has confirmed that Nortje is also unavailable due to injury.
