Salford Red Devils Poised to Welcome Back Key Player for Top-of-the-Table Clash with Hull KR
Salford, June 29 – The Salford Red Devils could see the return of influential prop Jack Ormondroyd for their crucial Super League encounter against league leaders Hull KR on Friday night. The 32-year-old forward, who was in impressive form earlier in the season, has been sidelined since May 10 due to a rib injury.
Speaking back in June, Salford coach Paul Rowley had suggested that Ormondroyd was likely to miss the remainder of the campaign. However, the Birmingham-born prop has made a swifter-than-expected recovery and has now been named in Rowley’s 21-man squad for the trip to Sewell Group Craven Park.
Salford assistant coach Krisnan Inu expressed his delight at Ormondroyd’s impending return, stating:
“The player that he was before injury, he was in great form, and it’s about finding that form again now, especially now at the right time of the season when we need those players and big bodies leading into potential finals.”
The Red Devils’ 21-man squad for this weekend’s clash is one of their strongest selections of the campaign, with several key players returning from injury. Inu acknowledged that this presents a “good headache” for the coaching staff as they prepare to face the league leaders.
Hull KR Pose Significant Challenge
Hull KR, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, will pose a significant challenge for the visitors. Inu is well aware of the threats posed by Willie Peters’ side, describing them as an “electric” and “offloading type of team” that the Red Devils must be wary of.
Fighting for Play-off Spot
With four crucial matches remaining in the regular season, Salford are fighting to secure a place in the end-of-season play-offs. The return of Ormondroyd and their strong squad could provide the boost they need to overcome the league leaders and take a significant step towards their postseason aspirations.
