Salesi Rayasi, the prodigious rugby talent, has showcased his exceptional skills throughout his career. In 2014, while playing for the Premier basketball team at St Patrick’s College, Silverstream, he scored an impressive 38 points, leading his side to a stunning upset victory over Wellington College. The very next day, Rayasi further demonstrated his versatility by scoring four tries for the First XV, helping them defeat the 2014 National champions, Scots College, by a score of 28-26.

Rayasi’s impressive performances have continued throughout his career. In the NPC for Auckland, he has amassed an incredible 40 tries in 52 games, earning him a nomination for the NPC Player of the Year award in 2020, a season in which he led the competition with 14 tries in just nine matches.

The Hurricanes have also benefited from Rayasi’s talent, as he has scored a hat-trick in his 50th game for the franchise, contributing to their 41-14 victory over the Highlanders. Rayasi’s 50th appearance for the Hurricanes is a significant milestone, and he has made his mark, starting in 31 of those matches and coming off the bench 19 times, with 32 wins to his name.

Rayasi’s hat-trick against the Highlanders was not the first time he has achieved the feat. In 2022, he scored three tries in the Hurricanes’ memorable 33-32 win over the Blues in Dunedin, where the team staged an impressive comeback, scoring a last-play try to seal the victory. Rayasi has also scored two tries in a match on seven other occasions, including a pair against the Highlanders in a 29-14 win in 2023.

After spending much of 2024 on the bench, he has earned a start for the Hurricanes’ Super Rugby Pacific quarter-final against the Melbourne Rebels, a testament to his hard work and dedication.
