Rugby Union Veteran Cian Healy Extends Leinster Stay with One-Year Contract
Dublin – BBC Rugby Union
Veteran Ireland international Cian Healy has signed a one-year contract extension with Leinster, ensuring the experienced loosehead prop will continue his rugby union journey. Despite making his professional debut for the Irish province way back in 2007 at just 19 years old, the 36-year-old remains committed to the game he loves and has no plans to retire anytime soon.
In a recent interview with the URC media team, Healy expressed his enthusiasm for the sport, stating, “> It’s just such a good environment to be in and an opportunity to do another year of what I love. It will be long enough after, when I’m not playing rugby, so I’m going to enjoy every bit of it that I can.”
The veteran player highlighted that he continues to be motivated by the desire to test himself against different teams and the pursuit of silverware.
With Leinster going without a trophy for the past two years, Healy is determined to change that this season, as the team chases the double of the United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup. “> There is business not yet attended to and opportunity,” he added.
Reflecting on Leinster’s previous league and cup double triumph in 2018, Healy emphasized the importance of staying focused and maintaining the intention to win both competitions. “> Luck comes in, planning comes in, lots of stuff comes in. It’s about staying focused and how you get yourself around the intention to win both competitions.”
As Cian Healy extends his stay at Leinster, rugby union enthusiasts can look forward to the continued presence of this experienced and dedicated player on the pitch, as he strives to help his team achieve further success in the upcoming seasons.
