Chiefs Coach Lauds Standout Performance by Wallace Sititi in Super Rugby Pacific Semifinal

In a thrilling Super Rugby Pacific semifinal, the Chiefs secured a 19-30 victory over the Hurricanes, and rising star Wallace Sititi’s impressive outing was a key factor behind their success. Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan heaped praise on the young talent, acknowledging Sititi’s pivotal contributions to the team’s triumph.

Sititi, whose father Semo Sititi earned 59 caps for Samoa, demonstrated his immense potential with a dominant performance. The number eight made 15 carries, amassing an impressive 150 meters, and beat four defenders while also completing 14 tackles. His powerful running and tenacious defending were instrumental in the Chiefs’ victory.

“I thought he was immense, he had several involvements in big plays. He’s got a massive future,” said McMillan. The coach’s comments suggest that Sititi’s semifinal display has bolstered his chances of earning an All Blacks call-up, although the final decision remains to be seen.

With strong back-row depth in the New Zealand national team, including the likes of Ardie Savea, Hoskins Sotutu, Brayden Iose, and Peter Lakai, the selectors will have a tough task in assembling their first squad. However, McMillan believes that Sititi’s standout performance has put him in a strong position to earn his first All Blacks cap.

“A number of our guys would be putting their names in pencil if not ink. You’d have to think he (Sititi) is as good a chance as anybody,” the coach added. “He’s young and still got a lot to learn but some people just have something about them that catches the eye and he’s one of them.”

As the rugby community eagerly awaits the All Blacks’ team announcement, the spotlight will undoubtedly be on Wallace Sititi and his continued rise to prominence in the sport.
