Leeds Rhinos Suffer Humiliating Defeat Against Hull FC
In a disappointing turn of events for the Leeds Rhinos, they suffered an 18-10 defeat at the hands of Hull FC in their recent Super League clash. The loss marks a new low point in the Rhinos’ season, as they succumbed to a team that had previously lost 11 consecutive games across all competitions.
Former rugby league star Jon Wilkin, who is well-versed in the rivalries between Leeds and his former clubs, was quick to analyze the Rhinos’ shortcomings. Wilkin, who played for the likes of Hull KR, St Helens, and Toronto Wolfpack, believes that the root of Leeds’ current woes lies within their pack.
Speaking as a Sky Sports pundit, Wilkin did not hold back in his critique of the Rhinos’ forwards, describing them as “soft” and lacking the necessary physicality to compete at the highest level. Wilkin even went as far as to say that he would relish the opportunity to face this Leeds pack, singling out Mikolaj Oledzki as a player he would target.
“I would fly out the line and try and biff Mik Oledzki just because I know nothing’s coming back at me,” Wilkin stated. He further elaborated that his former teammates, who were known for their toughness, would have easily overpowered the current Leeds pack.
The Rhinos’ woes are a stark contrast to their “Golden Generation,” which regularly lifted the Super League and Challenge Cup titles. Now, the once-dominant side finds itself in a challenging position, with Wilkin’s scathing assessment adding to the pressure on the team to turn things around.
As the rugby league season continues, the Leeds Rhinos will need to address the issues within their pack if they hope to regain their former glory and compete at the top of the Super League table.
