France Announce Inexperienced Squad for South American Tour

France’s rugby union team has unveiled a 32-man training squad ahead of their upcoming tour to South America, which includes a mix of experienced players and fresh faces. The squad will take on Argentina and Uruguay in a three-match series starting in July.

Among the notable inclusions is Munster’s Antoine Frisch, who has been named in the French setup despite his season ending prematurely due to a United Rugby Championship semi-final loss to Glasgow Warriors. Frisch, an in-form centre, is set to join Toulon ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and will now shift his focus to international rugby.

The French squad features a total of 19 uncapped players, including 12 forwards and seven backs. This inexperienced group will participate in a six-day training camp in Marcoussis from June 17 to 22 before the tour.

Head coach Fabien Galthie has assembled a youthful team, with several star players from Toulouse, Stade Francais, Bordeaux-Begles, and La Rochelle remaining with their respective clubs as the Top 14 semi-finals loom.

The French will kick off their South American tour against Argentina on Saturday, July 6 in Mendoza, followed by a second match against the same opponents on July 13 in Buenos Aires. In between those two Tests, the Les Bleus squad will face off with Uruguay on Wednesday, July 10 in Montevideo.
