Northampton Saints and Saracens Set for Titanic Premiership Semi-Final Clash

Northampton, England – May 12, 2023 (BBC Rugby Union): Premiership table-toppers Northampton Saints will host Saracens in a highly anticipated semi-final showdown at the cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens on Friday evening.

Captained by veteran Courtney Lawes in his final home outing, the Saints will make their third consecutive Premiership semi-final appearance – the 12th time the club has reached this stage of the competition. Stalwarts Alex Waller and Alex Moon will also don the Black, Green and Gold for the last time at Franklin’s Gardens.

Northampton’s starting XV features a wealth of experience, with the likes of hooker Curtis Langdon, tighthead prop Trevor Davison, and loosehead Alex Wmaking his 377th appearance for the club. In the backline, scrum-half Alex Mitchell and fly-half Fin Smith – the league’s second-highest points-scorer this season – will orchestrate the Saints’ attacks.

Meanwhile, Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has assembled a squad packed with international talent, including the formidable front-row of Mako Vunipola, Jamie George and Marco Riccioni. The dynamic second-row pairing of Maro Itoje and Nick Isiekwe will aim to disrupt the Saints’ momentum, while the experienced half-back duo of Ivan van Zyl and Owen Farrell will look to control the tempo.

This semi-final clash promises to be a titanic battle between two of the Premiership’s heavyweights, as Northampton Saints seek to secure their place in the final and Saracens chase a potential seventh league title.
