Leinster Receive Fitness Boost Ahead of URC Semi-final Clash

Leinster’s preparations for their upcoming United Rugby Championship (URC) semi-final against the Bulls have received a timely boost, with the return of key players from injury.

Ireland international Garry Ringrose has resumed full training last week, having been sidelined for a significant part of the season due to a shoulder injury. The 29-year-old centre missed the final round of the Six Nations but is now in contention to feature against the Bulls on Saturday at Loftus Versfeld.

Additionally, Leinster have confirmed that No.8 Jack Conan is expected to return to full training this week, after being withdrawn at half-time in their final regular-season victory over Connacht.

“The availability of these Ireland internationals will provide a welcome lift for head coaches Leo Cullen and Jacques Nienaber as Leinster seek to secure a place in the URC final. Ringrose’s return, in particular, will be music to the ears of Ireland boss Andy Farrell, with a two-match series against world champions South Africa on the horizon.”

Ringrose had previously missed the start of the Six Nations due to another shoulder issue, but made a comeback for the final round as Ireland clinched their second title in as many years.

Elsewhere in the Leinster squad, the following players remain sidelined and unavailable for selection:

  • Charlie Ngatai (shoulder)
  • Jason Jenkins (knee)
  • Liam Turner (arm)
  • Lee Barron (shoulder)
  • Alex Soroka (foot)

The news of Ringrose and Conan’s impending returns will undoubtedly boost Leinster’s hopes of progressing to the URC final, as they aim to secure yet another piece of silverware in what has been a successful campaign for the Irish province.
