Injury Concerns for Leeds Rhinos After Costly Defeat
Leeds, England – In a disappointing outcome, the Leeds Rhinos suffered a defeat on Friday night, and now face growing injury concerns with two key players requiring further medical evaluation.
Ash Handley, the team’s leading try-scorer, and Tom Holroyd both sustained injuries during the match against the Warrington Wolves. Holroyd, who left the field early due to a head knock, subsequently failed the HIA (Head Injury Assessment) and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. However, Holroyd reported feeling unwell after the HIA, prompting the club to send him to the hospital for further assessment.
The news is equally worrying for Handley, who had to leave the field clutching his side following a tackle by England captain George Williams in the first half. Handley is suspected to have a possible cracked rib and will undergo additional tests to determine the severity of the injury. If the scans confirm the team’s concerns, Handley could face an extended period on the sidelines.
“They’ve both gone to the hospital to get checked. Tom has been feeling unwell after failing the HIA, and Ash has got a possible cracked rib, so they’re both going to get checked out,” said Rhinos coach Rohan Smith. He added, “Losing a few players with injury was part of it as well, but we weren’t able to defend our goal-line as well as we have in other games.”
The Leeds Rhinos will be closely monitoring the progress of Handley and Holroyd in the coming days as they seek to address the team’s performance and prepare for their next challenge in the rugby league season.
