After a tumultuous 2024 season that saw them languishing at the bottom of the Super League table, Hull FC have announced the signing of two overseas players in a bid to turn their fortunes around.

The club, currently joint-bottom with just one win from their opening 13 games, has undergone a drastic rebuild under the guidance of Director of Rugby Richie Myler. The arrival of incoming head coach John Cartwright for the 2025 season, along with the signings of John Asiata and Jordan Abdull, has signaled the club’s determination to revive their fortunes.

In a move to further strengthen their squad, Hull FC have confirmed the signings of Jed Cartwright and Treigh Stewart. The pair, who have secured releases from their respective Australian clubs, have signed 18-month contracts with the Black & Whites, keeping them at the MKM Stadium until the end of the 2025 season.

“I’m feeling fit and firing after playing a handful of games for the Knights in the NRL,” said Jed Cartwright. “A tough, physical game is what I’m expecting in Super League, and I’m really excited for the experience.”

Meanwhile, Treigh Stewart, a fullback from Papua New Guinea, is eager to make his first-grade debut.

“To be able to make my first-grade debut at some stage is going to be pretty big for me,” he stated. “The physicality in the Q Cup is totally different to the NSW Cup, and I think that will prepare me well for playing in Super League.”

Richie Myler, the Director of Rugby, expressed his delight at the additions, stating that the club had been monitoring the pair for some time.

“Jed brings some real size and power to our back-row options, an area of the squad we’ve been keen to bolster mid-season,” he said. “Treigh is a really exciting prospect, and our competition for places for the full-back position is a mouth-watering thought with some great young talent at our disposal.”

With the addition of Cartwright and Stewart, Hull FC are hoping to turn their fortunes around and climb the Super League table in the remaining fixtures of the 2024 season. The club’s faithful will be eagerly anticipating the impact of these new signings as they strive to reclaim their place among the rugby league elite.
