Harlequins Secure Signing of Experienced Tighthead Prop Titi Lamositele

On January 5th, Harlequins officially announced the signing of experienced tighthead prop Titi Lamositele from the French Top 14 side Montpellier. The 29-year-old Samoan international, who previously represented the USA at the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, will join the Gallagher Premiership club ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Lamositele, who was born in Tacoma, Washington, first made his international debut for the USA in 2013 at the age of 18, going on to earn 32 Test caps for the Eagles. However, the powerful front-rower switched his international allegiance to Samoa in 2023.

Successful Club Career

At the club level, Lamositele spent four successful seasons with Saracens from 2015 to 2020, winning three Premiership titles and three Champions Cup crowns. He then moved to Montpellier, helping the French side clinch the Challenge Cup in 2021 and the Top 14 title in 2021/22.

In a statement, Lamositele expressed his excitement about joining Harlequins, praising the club’s impressive performances this season and looking forward to pulling on the famous “Quarters” jersey and playing in front of the passionate Quins supporters.

“I’m really excited to be joining Harlequins and can’t wait to get started. The club has performed impressively this season, and I’m looking forward to pulling on the famous Quarters jersey and playing in front of the passionate Quins supporters.”

Harlequins’ Excitement

Harlequins’ Director of Rugby, Billy Millard, lauded Lamositele’s wealth of experience and expertise, noting his dynamic ball-carrying abilities and powerful presence in the scrum. Millard is confident that the three-time Premiership winner will make a significant impact for the club next season.

The signing of Lamositele comes in the same week that Harlequins announced the departure of academy graduate Will Collier, who is set to take up a contract in France.
