The key moment came when Makonnen Amekuedi, who stepped onto the pitch at the last minute, scored a magnificent 40-metre solo try to seal Germany’s place in the final. “It’s all we’ve been working for these last few months, since September. Everybody worked hard, it was a team effort and we deserved it,” Amekuedi told RugbyPass pitchside after the match.
