Experienced French Centre Signs Three-Year Deal with Toulon
In a significant move, Toulon have secured the signing of Antoine Frisch on a three-year contract, the club announced today. The 28-year-old French centre will be departing Munster, where he has been playing since 2022, to join the prestigious French club ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Frisch, who was originally contracted with the Irish province until the summer of 2025, has agreed to an early release, cutting his stay in Limerick short by 12 months. The talented centre will now make the switch to Toulon, where he will hope to earn a recall to the France national team after training with Fabien Galthie’s squad during this year’s Guinness Six Nations.
Speaking on the acquisition, Toulon’s sporting director Laurent Emmanuelli praised Frisch’s versatility and well-rounded skillset.
“Antoine is a player who has had an atypical career, but his progress has been constant, and we are convinced that he is now a player of international level,” Emmanuelli said. “A fly-half by training and now positioned in the centre, Antoine is a balanced player who is as comfortable in attack as in defence.”
Frisch, who began his professional career in Rouen before spells with Bristol Bears and Munster, expressed his delight at joining the iconic Toulon jersey.
“It is a great pride and an honour for me to come and play at RCT,” he said. “I can’t wait to wear this iconic jersey and experience the fervour of the fans.”
Munster, who will bid farewell to Frisch at the end of the current Guinness Pro14 season, acknowledged the Frenchman’s valuable contributions during his time with the Irish club.
“Antoine has been a fantastic addition since joining from Bristol in 2022, and there are a huge few weeks to come before he departs with our best wishes,” the province said in a statement.
As Toulon prepare to welcome Frisch, the BBC Rugby Union news anticipates an exciting new chapter for the experienced centre as he looks to make his mark on the French Top 14 and potentially earn another call-up to the national team.
