Seasoned England Tighthead Kyle Sinckler Set to Join Barbarians for Fiji Clash
England international Kyle Sinckler, a 68-cap tighthead, has been called up to the Barbarians squad to face Fiji at Twickenham on June 22. The 31-year-old, who is set to leave Bristol Bears and join Toulon this summer, will don the iconic black and white hoops one more time before heading to France.
Sinckler will be joined by a host of other England stars in the Barbarians lineup, including Danny Care, Ben Youngs, Zach Mercer, Jonathan Joseph, Jonny May, and his future Toulon teammate David Ribbans. This will mark Sinckler’s first appearance for the Barbarians, although he has faced them twice while representing England.
“First and foremost, it’s a massive honour for me to be asked to represent the Barbarians. I remember growing up and watching the BaaBaas, thinking they were like the Harlem Globetrotters of rugby – a team playing with a unique style, packed full of superstar players. It is definitely something I’ve always wanted to experience myself.”
The match against Fiji will be Sinckler’s last taste of international rugby for a while, as his move to the Top 14 in France will make him ineligible to play for England. However, the player has emphasized his desire to return to the England setup in the future.
As Sinckler prepares to join the Barbarians, he looks forward to the opportunity to learn from the experienced players in the squad. “Especially in the front row, there’s always more to learn, so I can’t wait to get started and will enjoy everything the Barbarians experience has to offer,” he said.
The Barbarians match against Fiji at Twickenham on June 22 promises to be a thrilling affair, with Sinckler and his star-studded teammates showcasing their skills in the famous black and white jersey.
