Four England Stalwarts Bid Farewell to Premiership Clubs

As the Premiership’s regular season draws to a close, four prominent England internationals have announced their departures from their respective clubs. Harlequins, Gloucester, and Saracens have all confirmed the exits of Will Collier, Jonny May, Billy Vunipola, and Mako Vunipola at the end of the current campaign.

Harlequins mainstay Collier, who boasts over 240 appearances for the club, will embark on a “new playing opportunity in the French Top 14” next season. Scrum coach Adam Jones lauded the two-time England cap’s “outstanding service” and acknowledged his “desire for a fresh challenge.”

“Will Collier has given outstanding service to Harlequins over the past decade, and we respect his desire for a fresh challenge. We wish him all the best in his new playing opportunity in the French Top 14.”

Meanwhile, Saracens bid farewell to the Vunipola brothers, who have been “greatest players in the history of the club.” Billy, with 194 appearances and five Premiership titles, and Mako, with 229 caps and three European crowns, will leave North London after over a decade of service. Both are expected to join Montpellier in the Top 14.

Gloucester also announced the departure of fan-favorite Jonny May, the club’s academy product who amassed 191 games and 73 tries for the Cherry Whites. Director of Rugby George Skivington praised May’s “raw speed” and “finishing ability,” recognizing him as a “true legend of Gloucester Rugby.”

As these England stalwarts embark on new challenges, their departures will undoubtedly leave a void in their respective Premiership teams. Rugby union enthusiasts will eagerly follow the next chapter in the careers of Collier, May, and the Vunipola brothers.
