England Community Lions Open Under-16 Home Nations Campaign with Dominant Win Over Scotland
On a sunny spring day in Glasgow, the England Community Lions got their Under-16 Home Nations Championship campaign off to a rousing start with a convincing 46-4 victory over a spirited Scotland side.
The visitors showcased their attacking prowess from the outset, with fullback Jayden Tyson dotting down in the opening exchanges. Presten Burgess added the conversion, and the Lions soon doubled their tally through a superb offload from Ellis Holliday that sent Saul Campbell over the line.
“The team will be brimming with confidence after this comprehensive win over their northern rivals.”
Scotland made a valiant effort to keep the rampant Lions at bay, but the floodgates soon opened. Travis-Jack Morse, Declan Rigby, and Mason Bowes all crossed the whitewash to extend the English side’s lead to an imposing 30-0 by the interval.
The second half saw the Lions continue their dominant display, with Dylan Morris and Tyson adding further tries to make it 42-0. Scotland’s perseverance was finally rewarded when Max Blackie scored a late consolation try, but the Community Lions had long since sewn up the victory.
Head coach Dave Parkinson will be delighted with his side’s clinical performance, which showcased the depth of talent within the England Community Lions set-up. As they look ahead to the remainder of the Home Nations Championship, the team will be brimming with confidence after this comprehensive win over their northern rivals.
