In an exciting matchup, the England Academy team will take on France at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington this evening. The squad is packed with top young talents, including Hull FC’s Jack Charles and the Warrington Wolves duo of Cai Taylor-Wray and Arron Lindop, who have already gained valuable Super League experience.
Headlining the team is George Whitby, the highly-rated St Helens half-back, who may be eyed as a potential successor to Lewis Dodd next year. Wigan’s Jack Farrimond was initially named in the 21-man squad but has been omitted from the matchday lineup.
Leeds Rhinos fans will recognize names like Presley Cassell and Marcus Qareqare, who have recently signed long-term deals with the club. Qareqare’s brother, Jason, has even graced the Super League fields, adding to the family’s pedigree.
Representing France are two Toulouse Olympique players, Hugo Garrigues and Trevor Chiffolleau.
“I’m really excited about what this group can achieve. In the last few days, we have exposed the players to what an England environment looks and feels like, with the challenge and intensity of short-term representative preparation that they might one day experience at senior international level.”
- Paul Anderson, Head of England Pathways
