Disciplinary Woes Plague London Broncos in Super League

In the latest round of Super League disciplinary action, two London Broncos players have been handed bans, further complicating the team’s fight to overcome their winless start to the season.

Rugby League Discipline Decisions Impact London Broncos

In the latest round of Super League disciplinary action, two London Broncos players have been handed bans by the RFL Match Review Panel. Ethan Natoli received a one-match Penalty Notice for a Grade C Dangerous Contact offence, while Rhys Kennedy was given a one-match suspension for a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge.

The Broncos’ woes continued on the field as well, suffering a heavy 52-6 defeat at the hands of league leaders St Helens on Sunday. Despite the team’s struggles, the match at the Twickenham Stoop saw London’s highest home attendance in 14 years, highlighting the loyal fan base. However, the loss left the Broncos rooted to the bottom of the Super League table.

Natoli’s ban is due to “late contact on the passer,” which the Panel deemed a Grade C offence, constituting an automatic suspension. Kennedy’s Grade B charge, meanwhile, was for using his body “forcefully to twist, bend or otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves an unacceptable risk of injury.”

With two key players now sidelined, the Broncos face an uphill challenge as they prepare to take on Wigan Warriors on Friday. The latest disciplinary decisions will undoubtedly be a frustrating setback for the London-based club as they continue their fight to climb the Super League standings.
