Castleford Tigers Lock Up Promising Fullback Tex Hoy with Contract Extension

Castleford, England (May 10, 2023) – In a move that reinforces their commitment to retaining young talent, Castleford Tigers have announced the signing of fullback Tex Hoy to a new two-year deal. The Australian speedster, who joined the club in April after his release from Hull FC, has made an immediate impact with the Tigers, scoring two tries in his five appearances so far.

Hoy has seamlessly integrated into Castleford’s electric backline, which features the talented Senior twins, Innes and Louis, as well as centres Sam Wood and Corey Hall. With the latter trio all signed beyond the current season, Hoy’s new contract ensures the club maintains continuity and stability in their key positions.

“We’re delighted to have Tex on board for the next two years,” said Castleford’s head coach. “He’s shown in his short time with us that he has the pace and skills to be a real asset, and we’re excited to see him develop further within our system.”

The Tigers, who have been proactive in retaining their homegrown stars, have now secured the services of one of their overseas recruits as well. Hoy’s initial deal was set to expire at the end of the 2023 season, but the new contract will keep him at Wheldon Road until the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.

“I’m really pleased to have committed my future to Castleford,” said Hoy. “The club has made me feel welcome from day one, and I’m looking forward to playing my part in their success over the next couple of seasons.”

With the club’s focus on nurturing young talent and building for the long-term, Tex Hoy’s contract extension is a significant coup for the Castleford Tigers as they seek to challenge for honours in the upcoming rugby league seasons.
