Bath Secure Premiership Final Berth After Thrilling Victory Over Sale Sharks
Bath, 31-23 victors over Sale Sharks, booked their place in the Premiership final following a masterclass performance by their star half-back duo of Ben Spencer and Finn Russell.
The West Countrymen were dominant in the opening 25 minutes, racing to an 18-5 lead courtesy of tries from Ted Hill and Beno Obano, with Russell adding eight points from the tee. Sale’s only first-quarter response came via Ben Curry, but they gradually worked their way back into the contest and trailed by just three points at the break.
“Tommy Taylor’s try and a George Ford penalty early in the second half leveled the scores, but Russell regained Bath’s advantage before Tom O’Flaherty’s try put the visitors in front. However, the hosts remained composed, with their half-backs controlling proceedings, and Russell’s penalty and Niall Annett’s late try sealed a place in the Premiership final for Bath.”

There was no fairy-tale return to action for Sale and England flanker Tom Curry, who featured for 33 minutes off the bench on his first appearance since the World Cup after undergoing major hip surgery.
