Rugby Union News: Glasgow Lose Key Hooker George Turner at Season’s End
Glasgow Warriors have announced that Scotland’s first-choice hooker George Turner will be leaving the club at the conclusion of the current season. The 31-year-old front-rower has been a mainstay at Scotstoun for the past seven years, during which time he has earned all 45 of his international caps.
Recent reports suggested that Turner was being linked with a move to Japanese side Kobelco Kobe Steelers, who are under the guidance of former Warriors head coach Dave Rennie. In addition to Turner’s departure, Glasgow Warriors will also bid farewell to Oli Kebble, Sintu Manjezi, Lucio Sordoni, Enrique Pieretto, and Thomas Gordon at the end of the season.
“We would like to thank every one of our leavers for their efforts throughout their time with Glasgow Warriors. Each of them have bought in and contributed both on and off the field, helping us to become as close-knit a playing group as we can be.”
Commenting on the impending player exits, Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith expressed his gratitude for their contributions to the club. He further added:
“I would like to sincerely thank each player for their commitment to the club over the years and we wish them all the very best for whatever comes next.”
The departure of key players like George Turner, who has been a vital cog in the Scotland national rugby union team, will undoubtedly leave a significant void in the Glasgow Warriors’ lineup.
