Ashgate Stadium to Host Women’s Rugby World Cup Semi-Finals
Ashgate Stadium in Bristol will play a pivotal role in the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup, as the venue has been selected to host both semi-final matches. This announcement comes as a boost for the England Women’s national team, who are guaranteed to feature at the Bristol stadium should they progress to the knockout stage of the prestigious tournament.
The 27,000-capacity ground will also share the quarter-final fixtures with Exeter’s Sandy Park over the weekend of September 13-14, as revealed by the tournament organizers during their recent ticketing announcement.
England’s campaign to clinch their third World Cup title will commence at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on August 22, before the team moves on to compete in group-stage matches in Northampton and Brighton.
In total, over 400,000 tickets will be made available for the competition, with pre-sale for the first match and the final opening on September 24. Ticket prices will range from £5 to £95, with the highest-priced seats reserved for the Twickenham final, which will be preceded by the bronze final in a double-header format.
“The women’s game is growing and it’s hugely exciting,” Lemon said. “We’re confident in the prices. When you compare them with other sports, it’s easy to compare the price without looking at the sales volumes.”
The group-stage matches will also be hosted in Exeter, Manchester, and York, with the organizers aiming to achieve an 82,000 sell-out for the final at Twickenham.
