Thatto Heath Crusaders Triumph Over York Acorn in Convincing Fashion
The Thatto Heath Crusaders have firmly re-entered the race for the Premier Division Play-Offs after a resounding 52-16 victory over York Acorn at their home ground. In an action-packed encounter, the Crusaders’ nine-try performance proved too much for the visiting side.
Despite York Acorn looking the more accomplished team for the first 25 minutes, it was Thatto Heath who opened the scoring in the 6th minute through Connor Dwyer. The visitors then struck back, with Ant Chilton setting up Josh Parker for their first try, before Lewis Lord powered through from close range to give York Acorn a 10-4 lead.

Ashurst’s impact was immediate, as he set up Jamie Tracey for a try, and Connor Dwyer and Ryan Houghton soon followed suit to give Thatto Heath a 22-10 lead at the break.
The second half saw Thatto Heath maintain their dominance, with Andy Lea, Adam Saunders, and Chris Jones all touching down to extend their advantage. York Acorn’s Lewis Lord scored a consolation try, but the Crusaders rounded off the match with a stunning 65-meter try from Keane Gilford to secure a convincing 52-16 victory.
The result means Thatto Heath are now level on 10 points with four other clubs, just two points behind fifth-placed Wath Brow Hornets and sixth-placed York Acorn in the rugby league scores and table.
