Barbarians Primed for Fiji Clash at Twickenham: Whitelock to Captain Star-Studded Squad

London, May 27 – Fans at Twickenham Stadium are in for a rugby treat this Saturday as the iconic Barbarians side takes on Fiji in an enthralling matchup. Legendary All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock will lead the star-studded Barbarians lineup, with Saracens-bound fly-half Fergus Burke also named in the starting XV.

The fixture will follow the Springboks’ clash against Wales, creating a mouthwatering double-header at the home of English rugby. Whitelock, who will retire after this game, is joined in the second row by England international David Ribbans, while the Barbarians pack also features the likes of Kyle Sinckler, Harry Thacker, and Wallabies prop Scott Sio.

“It’s a great squad with a lot of experience, as well as a lot of guys who are at the front end of their careers,” Deans said. “They all understand the privilege they have got to wear this jersey, so we have a fantastic week ahead of us.”

In the back row, Zach Mercer, Jack Cornelson, and Lachlan Boshier provide dynamism and ball-carrying ability. The experienced Danny Care starts at scrum-half, with Burke, who recently returned to action for the Crusaders, paired alongside him at fly-half.

The midfield pairing of former France internationals Gael Fickou and Virimi Vakatawa promises to be a formidable combination, while the back three of Jonny May, Leicester Fainga’anuku, and Chay Fihaki add further flair and excitement.

Barbarians head coach Robbie Deans is thrilled with the squad he has assembled, highlighting the blend of experience and youthful talent.

With over 65,000 tickets already sold for the double-header, rugby fans are in for a treat as the legendary Barbarians take on the dynamic Fiji side at the iconic Twickenham Stadium on Saturday.
